2019 Seneca CABERNET SAUVIGNON Nagambie Lakes, Victoria
Seneca Vintners is the brainchild of Stuart Richardson and third-generation winemaker and vigneron Will Shelmerdine, with a goal to create, small batch, hand-crafted wines of the highest quality. This wine is a luxurious full-bodied wine bursting with aromas of dark fruits, white pepper and red capsicum. The palate is soft and luscious, with notes of fresh blackberries, red currants. The wine is aged for 15 months in a blend of new and old French oak which gives balance, integrated tannins, and a long lingering finish. With further aging it will develop leathery characteristics as well. The 25-year-old vineyard is nestled in the stunning Nagambie Lakes region of the Goulburn Valley. Long dry summers and cool nights allow the fruit to develop in richness and complexity; the perfect place to grow classic cool-climate Cabernet Sauvignon. The average age of vines are 22 years, the soil type is sandy clay loams over free draining soil with direct proximity to the Goulburn River. Warm summer temperatures are offset by cool nights, resulting in grapes of high quality.
