2018 Domaine Pichot “Le Marigny” Vouvray Moelleux CHENIN BLANC
The Pichot family is one of the oldest in Vouvray with origins as restaurateurs going back to 1739 later followed by the purchase of the superb Coteau de la Biche vineyards in 1770, establishing them as growers to help supply the restaurant. Pichot Le Marigny Moelleux is a dessert wine that comes from a ten-hectare vineyard exclusively planted in Chenin Blanc. The vines allow the Pichot Le Marigny to be sweet but not overpoweringly so. This delicious Vouvray comes from the best 'coteaux' (hills with best sun exposure) with very low yields keeping the grapes at their highest intensity. The wine smells of florals, citrus and stone fruits with classic Vouvray mineral notes. On the palate the wine is round and generous. Plenty of floral notes, apricots and honey, and while it is obviously a sweet wine, the acidity keeps it clean and elegant.
